Village of Güveççi, Hatay province, Turkey. Abu Thaer, from the Syrian village of Khorbet Al-Jour. Khorbet Al-Jour is across the valley from Güveççi, a Turkish village on the Syrian border – Abu Thaer can see his house from Güveççi. He had to leave his village in June 2011, after the Syrian Army forced the villagers to move out of their homes. He says even though there was no armed resistance in the village, the the army attacked them with tanks. The village is in a strategically important position – parts where the first refugees crossed to Turkey. His house is now used by the Syrian Army soldiers. (Photo: Yusuf Sayman)
